Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to require medical assistance to move in?

Our community will support seniors that are completely independent, as well. We are an ideal setting for individuals who are looking for maintenance-free lifestyle with lots of activities to engage and increased socialization.

What kind of nursing supervision do you provide?

The community provides 24- hour nursing supervision.

Are the apartments furnished or do I bring my own furniture?

All of our apartments are unfurnished so our residents have an empty canvas in which to create their new home the way they like it. We encourage our resident to personalize their apartment with family pictures, etc.

Do you allow pets?

Legacy Ridge does not allow pets at this time.

I smoke, is that a problem?

This is a smoke-free community.

Do you accept any financial assistance programs?

Legacy Ridge is a private pay community. Programs like the VA’s Aid and Attendance Pension benefit program and various types of Long-Term Care Insurance Policies help many seniors with the cost of Senior Living communities.

I am a veteran, is there financial assistance available for me?

Potentially, a veteran or a surviving spouse of a veteran may be eligible for the VA Aid and Attendance Program.  More information on this program can be found at http://www.benefits.va.gov/pension/aid_attendance_housebound.asp

Is there transportation to and from medical appointments?

Legacy Ridge provides transportation services on a weekly basis for shopping, medical appointments and many other locations within a 10 mile radius. With advanced notice, special arrangements can be made to accommodate other destinations.

Is this a buy-in community?

Legacy Ridge is not a “Buy-In” community. We only require a one-time community fee at time of move-in. Otherwise, we are a month-to-month rental community and the rent is due on the 1st of each month.

Will I have to sign a long lease?

Legacy Ridge is a month-to-month rental community. The Executive Director will meet with you to review and sign a Residency Agreement which only requires a written 30- day notice to vacate the community.

How will my loved one be assessed for care needs?

Legacy Ridge is a person-centered approach community, which means, our Wellness Director will complete a thorough personal assessment for each resident to determine the services they need in order to provide the care our residents require and deserve.  An individualized service plan will be developed to ensure all care needs are met on a daily basis with the resident’s needs and preferences in mind.

How often can I visit my loved one?

Legacy Ridge is your loved one’s home. We encourage you to visit as often as you can, any time of the night or day, of course you may want to ask your loved one about that! Regular visits by family and friends lets your loved one know you care about them and it helps them adjust to their new home. We encourage families to develop relationships with Legacy Ridge team members, as well.

In response to COVID-19 please call (703) 468-7000 ext: 109, for the most up to date protocol on visiting a loved one.

What is a Senior Living Community?

Legacy Ridge offers a safe and secure environment where seniors can receive memory care support. Our Senior Living Community also provides attractive, comfortable and spacious home-like apartments, as well as an active and social environment where seniors meet other seniors with similar likes and interests.

How is your community different from a nursing home?

Legacy Ridge does not provide advanced, round-the-clock medical care. Nursing homes are designed to assist individuals who have health conditions that require constant monitoring and round-the-clock availability of medical personnel.
