Maria Franklin
Executive Director

Having earned her Bachelors’ degree in Health Care Management with a minor in Gerontology at Quinnipiac University, Maria Franklin has been a Licensed Assisted Living Administrator for the state of Virginia since 2009. She is a preceptor in the state and has assisted several health care professionals to pursue a career in the senior living industry.

Maria has experience working in diverse environments. She started her career at a Continuing Care retirement community in Northern Virginia, has worked for both profit and non- profit health care organizations including hospitals, mail order pharmacies, and psychology therapy practices.

A few years ago, she had the opportunity to convert an assisted living community to become an all-memory building and grew the community to maintain 98% occupancy.

Maria’s passion stems from a close relationship with her grandmother, lived with her family and had dementia. She had the personal experience of having to place her in a group home at one point prior to brining her home and caring for her with assistance from a caregiver. She feels it is very important for families to learn how to deal with the disease in order to give their loved one as much of a quality of life as possible. She continually seeks best practices in dementia care.  Her goal is to continue to improve the quality of lives for those living with dementia in the communities she oversees.

Maria is originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, grew up in New Jersey and has lived in Northern Virginia for over 27 years.  She values time spent with her family and friends. She enjoys playing tourist in her own town and takes every opportunity to try new spots in the area.  An avid Disney fan, she makes sure she vacations every year with her family to Florida to be at the happiest place on earth.
